Ed Vásquez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (1979). His relationship to the arts begins at an early age when he spent time at his parent’s sewing workshop, which explains why his works depict the process of creating items of apparel in series like Manufactura, Tejedoras or Pasarelas. Between 1995 and 1997 he studied Drawing and Painting at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes.

In 2000 Ed Vásquez approaches Féliz Disla Guillén, founder of the Organization ofHispanic American Painters and Sculptors in New York, who guides him in his education and experimentation process. A year later, Ed enters Escuela de Arte y Diseño de Altos de Chavón in the Dominican Republic. During his second year his extraordinary performance earns him the Dominique Bludhorn Fellowship. He graduates cum laude in 2003.

Over time, practice has become the principal form of study for this exceptional creative artist in addition to his participation in talks, seminars, courses and arts- and culture-related studies, all of which enhance his profile.
